To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

I'll begin by admitting I'd never heard of this series until my librarian pals started going gaga over the Netflix original movie To All the Boys I've Loved Before. The title kind of rang a bell but not really. So after a little (maybe-not-so-little) arm twisting I agreed to watch but only after reading the book. But the library didn't own the audiobook! <Jaw Drop> I pretty much exclusively listen to books, so this was a bummer. Luckily I work with THE BEST librarians ever, and they were super eager to add this to the collection in eAudio and Book on CD (BOCD).

Now I have the book downloaded to my iPhone and a plane ride/mini vacation to listen to my heart's delight. So I did just that. I may or may not have ignored my sisters during our much needed pedicure hour to finish the last couple chapters of the book. They get it, I'm a librarian.

The teenage girl that lives inside me (and every woman) squealed with delight as I followed Lara Jean on her accidental journey to find love. I'm going to come out and say (tiny spoiler) this was SUCH a great love triangle story. Love triangles never get old for me. I mean 'destiny' love stories are just a bit blah IMO.

Moving on, sisterly bonds, strong family units, gut twisting OMG moments add to the sweetness of this story. My only complaint was I was not a fan of book Kitty, but that character is totally corrected in the movie.

SPEAKING of the movie, casting of Lara Jean was fantastic! Lana Condor nails this character and brings the story to life. I'm going to be honest and say Peter wasn't hot enough and Josh was too hot. Yeah I know, everyone loves Noah Centineo, but when I picture THE hottest guy in the school (as Peter is described numerous times in the book), I think more K.J. Apa (Riverdale).

Both book and movie will steal your heart, but to get the full impact read first watch later. I know that's hard because Netflix is right there, but try. Even if you watched first, still read. Because there are TWO MORE books in this series. Plus the book has way more Josh/love triangle/love letter action in it. I can't wait until my copy of P.S. I Still Love You comes on hold for me!

Until next time, you can stay up to date with me on instagram, twitter and facebook. Thanks for reading!
